hope chest: sampler
when i was little, i remember my grandmother talking about a hope chest -- some sort of fancy trunk where you put all the things you were assembling for your future life. or maybe i read it in one of the little house on the prairie books, who knows. i think it was where you put all the sheets and hankies and quilts and stuff you sewed, but surely it was more than linens -- a place for girls to dream. does anyone do this anymore?
saw a video with my friend bess tonight, and was struck by it -- whatever your leanings, and whoever you support, this is still a beautiful line: "in the unlikely story that is america, there has never been anything false about hope." hope fuels big dreams -- think of all of yours, embarking on your latest adventure!
sentimental, yet worth thinking about: what is your great hope for your wedding day? your married life? what do you want to say yes to, now that you've said yes? write it somewhere and keep it close.
