The very first aspect I decided on for my wedding was purple tulips, the really dark purple ones. They have always been my favorite. I decided to mix them with the dark pink ones, so my colors are dark purple, dark pink, and light green.
i figured if they'd be willing to share, i'd include dana's as well, although their greens may be different.

Wedding Cakes- Almost too Pretty to Eat!

SugarBlossom love everything sweet and sugary, so wedding cakes, whether wacky, whimsical or elegant, are always a highlight of our planning!

Having a wedding cake is an old tradition, but one that has evolved over the years- in medieval times it was sweet bread that was thrown at the couple to determine how many children the couple would have and a sign of good fortune.

Thankfully, today the wedding cake is motionless and displayed in a prominent position to be admired. Your cake is a fantastic opportunity to be creative and dream up elaborate ideas with your wedding planner to reflect your personalities.
Specialist wedding cake companies can make these a reality to the extent some seem more like pieces of art!

Little Venice Cake Company, MaisieFantasie and Peggy Porschen are all well known for their stunning wedding cakes and come highly recommended by us, also favoured by many celebs.

If you have the tastes of the celebrities, but not necessarily the budget, we also absolutely adore The Cake Fairy (http://www.thecakefairy.com/) they create incredibly tasty works of art without the price tag to match!

on hotness...

i know, i know. bad blogger. i have a good excuse! my 17-year-old sister arrived on thursday and we painted the town as red as it's possible to paint a town with an underage sibling. especially one your dad would *kill* you if you messed up. (dad, i don't know *where* that tattoo came from, i swear.)

a tale from this weekend. we're out having dinner last night with my new boyfriend (!!) after we all went kayaking together. just sitting and chatting. talk turns, as it sometimes will, to the relative hotness of celebrities.
me: people from texas are hot.

she: matthew mcconaughey is definitely hot.

me: i don't even like blondes. he's eye candy.

bf: [helpfully] he's a surfer.

me+she: *hot!*

she: not a good actor, though. so dumb!

me: such a brick. but so hot. he should just remain silent. just walk around not saying a word.

she: *shirtless.*
thus, our new male celebrity campaign: Silent and Shirtless. ah, wisdom, from the mouths of babes.

she left for texas at the crack of dawn, so i will post a little random sampler in her honor, then get back on track with the color palettes.

it's finally here!

Mirrorlake
Dell and I are off to Lake Placid for our summer vacation! Posting will be light next week as we'll be in the woods. While I'm gone, feel free to wander thru any of my other 601 (!!) posts for your wedding fix. I'll be posting about the resort where we're staying when I get back, I think it's going to be a great place for honeymoons, so I'll take lots of pictures! In the mean time, stay cool and come back and see me for regularly scheduled posting on the 4th of August.
**Anyone have any suggestions of things to do in Lake Placid?

a morroccan glow

These pieces from Z Gallery would be adorable on a buffet table, as centerpieces, or as decorations at the ceremony. Grouping all the different sizes together creates a nice effect. Candle holders and Lanterns, love them!

I like this! My colors are champagne and cornflower blue and my wedding is August 31st! I am stuck on what to get my Mother and my FH's Mother and what to get his Father- any inspiration is much appreciated!

am thinking maybe for mum and mum-in-law, what about a reeeally nice framed photo, or some jewelry if they wear it, or -- oh, maybe a framed photo of the both of you as kids, with a note from you both in the middle (i did that to my mom [notice "did", not "gave", mwahaha] with photos of me and my sister for mother's day once, instant tears!) -- or -- anyone have ideas?

for his dad, maybe some cool cuff links (sea glass ones below are neat), or a similar framed photo with a handwritten note, or... you can check my little article on what to get bridal party folks on offbeatbride.com, and see if anything inspires you...

people's definition of cornflower seems to differ, so see what you think:
