this just in...

Just got an email from the ladies at Anthropologie entitled, "What if Anthropologie did weddings?" Surely if you know me, you know that the only other sentence that could possibly grab more of my attention would be "What if Anthropologie was giving stuff away for free?". So naturally, I had a look.
Turns out, that February 14th, Anthro is launching BHLDN (i'm pronouncing it "Beholden"?) presumably a wedding shop (online? physical stores? don't know). That's virtually all I know. There wasn't much to the email other than a bunch of gorgeous pictures of wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, wedding shoes, accessories and all manner of other loveliness.
I will BHLDN my breathe until I see more!

Taking it to the next level are these gorgeous beaded and bejeweled sashes and belts to jazz up your ensemble from Bridal Couture Girls. I think these could really give a homemade/handmade dress the extra polish that comes with a little sparkle.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll be raking leaves, planting bulbs and celebrating this week's major milestone of having reached my -15 lb goal since I started WW in September. I am at this very moment wearing size 4 pants. They are a big 4 but the tag says 4, and I couldn't be happier about it. Just in time for Thanksgiving! Three cheers for a solid week of skinny jeans!

time to get serious

Last night I had a "time-to-get-serious-about-getting-in-shape" moment as I realized that my baby is now 5 months old (!), and I have not broken a sweat since his delivery (!!). I want to get back into the swing of exercising, but I get bored so easily with treadmills and ellipticals (yawn). Any suggestions? I live in Rhode Island, so exercising outdoors is not always an option (at least not for me). Do I have to join a gym to do this right? Anyone?
In the mean time, I will dream of belts to accent my future sculpted self. From Percy Handmade.

all that glitters

I have always loved the notion of choosing one beautiful, thoughtful accessory to make a nice outfit (maybe even an unremarkable one) unforgettable. With a short, white, satin, cinched-at-the-waist dress, the sequined rose would be perfect. The top headband could complete a slender, drapey, grecian number like they were never meant to be apart.
This has me wondering... Did any of you choose your gown based on an amazing accessory? Or does the dress always come first?

I posted a while back about Louise Broad and her amazing line of ethereal shrugs, vests and hair accessories, but I wanted to post a few newer ones because they are just fantastic and you can never have too many shrugs to choose from! I keep picturing the one up top with a glamorous up-do and a slinky, bias-cut mermaid style gown - a la 1938-ish.

day one

It's just any other Monday for everyone else, but for me, it's like the first day of work at a new job. While the actual work I'm doing is the same, I have this little, squirmy bundled person to take with me (luckily, I work from home). What if he cries when the phone rings? What if I can't get my work finished? What if his diaper explodes while I'm on the phone with Martha Stewart? (ha. I wish I was on the phone with Martha Stewart) I am loaded with questions at this point, none of which I will know the answers to until I've jumped in and just DONE it. I am 10 days into mommyhood but in almost every way it still feels like the first day. I'm learning this new job on the fly, no training wheels!
Let's get the party started, shall we? I started my morning, as usual, with a little visit to Etsy. The lovely stylings of Icing 101 caught my eye, especially that gorgeous sash. What amazing way to accentuate a tiny waist! Sigh.... a tiny waist.

for a delicate do

Things, as you can imagine, have been pretty crazy around here since last weekend. We are home from the hospital now, and Niko is doing very, very well. I'm pooped most of the time, but so happy to have him home and so lucky to have a bunch of my family members around to help. I'm slowly getting back to my work, a little piece at a time and it feels good to blog again!
I went on my first trip out without the baby this afternoon, and my sister and I saw the cutest little hair pins at this shop called Frog and Toad in Providence that I'm totally addicted to. When I got home, I was inspired to find more adorable hair pins to dress up my otherwise very plain hair-do. These delicateporcelain doves were my favorites of the search, from a little shop called Revisions. I just might get myself some as a little present, and if I'm going to have the hair pin, I might as well also have the necklace, no?
